Holger Rune ended the last season in the best possible way after winning the ATP1000 event in Paris. Ranked no.11, Rune has forged a great partnership with his new coach Patrick Mouratoglou.

Coach Patrick Mouratoglou believes Holger Rune has a chance to become the world’s best player in 2023. Rune defeated Novak Djokovic in the Paris final. After his victory in Paris, Rune entered the top 10 for the first time in his career and attained a career-high world ranking of No.10.

About Rune world no.1

During a recent interview, Patrick explained why he believes Holger can be at the top of the rankings.

World No 1 next year, is that realistic? Why not. When you can do what he did, anything is possible. Now, it’s going to require him to be able to perform as he did in Bercy, all year long, and especially in the Grand Slams and in the Masters 1000, where it counts the most,” said Patrick.

“So it’s not going to be easy, obviously, but if it were easy to be the best in the world, we’d know already. Is that realistic? It’s not unrealistic. It will be extremely difficult, but it is not unrealistic,” said Mouratoglou.
