Funny Nick Kyrgios talked about retirement before his Australian Open campaign

Nick Kyrgios won the doubles title at the Australian Open with his friend Thanasi Kokkinakis. He also made it to the Wimbledon final, where he lost to Novak Djokovic in four sets. During an interview, Nick hinted that he may retire if he wins a major.

Nick Kyrgios had a fantastic year in 2022 and his next target is definitely winning a Slam title. During a recent interview, Nick hinted that he might retire if he wins a major.

After conquering the doubles title at the Australian Open with his close friend Thanasi Kokkinakis, Nick made it to the Wimbledon final, where he lost to Novak Djokovic in four sets.

“Hopefully, I can win a slam and just retire,” Kyrgios said, talking about his immediate future.

“Would I sign again? Honestly, I don’t know about it. It took a lot of hard work this season, a lot of discipline and it seems the better you do, everyone wants a bit more of you and it becomes more stressful.

But I had a lot of fun this season. And I’m finally just proud to say I made a slam final and started to meet some expectations.”

“I had a lot of fun, I enjoyed it, definitely felt better off and on the court.”

At the moment ranked no.22, Kyrgios played his last match on the 6th of October when he defeated world no.77 Kamil Majchrzak 3-6 6-2 6-2 in the 2nd round in Tokyo (draw).

Currently, during this season Kyrgios has managed to achieve an overall 37-10 match record. This year, the Australian lifted the trophy in Washington. The Australian got to the final in Wimbledon.

He is also scheduled to play in Australian Open (Australian Open) after Adelaide. The main draw will start on the 9th of January.
