In a rather weird exchange, Emma Raducanu and Belinda Bencic swapped coaches. Emma was working with Dmitry Tursunov, who eventually decided to partner with Belinda Bencic. According to a well-known journalist, James Gray, Raducanu is now working on a trial basis with Sebastian Sachs, who used to be Belinda Bencic’s coach.
Before Andrew Richardson led Raducanu to her historic grand slam title (2021 US Open), she made her breakthrough at Wimbledon a few months earlier under the direction of Nigel Sears. After Andrew, Torben Beltz took his place, Iain Bates, the LTA’s director of women’s tennis, and senior performance adviser Louis Cayer also coached Emma before she hired Tursunov.
NEW: Emma Raducanu is working on court with Sebastian Sachs, formerly Belinda Bencic's coach.
Understood that it is a trial basis with, as usual, the possibility of a longer term relationship.
Sachs was also previously part of Victoria Azarenka's team.
