The off-season is one of those moments when there is a bit of a reshuffle among tennis coaches. Rafael Nadal published a surprising post announcing that one of his historical coaches, Francisco Roig, decided to leave his team to start a personal project. Nadal shared the following message of gratitude on social media:
“I wanted to inform you that Francis Roig is leaving the team. Francis has been an important person in my career and I am very grateful to him for all these years of work and friendship. When we started working together, I was a child and together with my uncle Toni, we started on the circuit.
Francis is a great coach who knows tennis very well and has helped me a lot to get better and better. I only have words of gratitude and I wish him all the luck in the world in his new project.”

Currently ranked no.2, Rafael played his last match on the 17th of November when he beat world no.3 Casper Ruud 7-5 7-5 in the round robin in the Nitto ATP Finals (draw).
At the moment, during this season Rafael owns a composed 39-8 record. Rafael clinched 4 titles in 2022 in Melbourne, Australian Open, Acapulco and French Open. Nadal reached the final in Indian Wells.
