Djokovic began to closely monitor everything in his diet as he battled what he has described as a type of allergic asthma that was made worse by the pressure of competition.

He attributes this transformation, which occurred under the supervision of a medical team, with turning him from a player on the verge of quitting the tour into one of the greatest champions of all time. Before eventually switching to a completely plant-based diet, Djokovic started the process by avoiding foods that contained gluten, dairy, and refined sugar.

Djokovic recently discussed his daily diet with Graham Bensinger. Novak conceded that back in the day he was extremely frustrated when he had to retire while praying some matches.

Djokovic explained what his regime

“When I rise from the bed I start with warm water and lemon to help my body detoxify. And then I would have celery juice on an empty stomach. Then I’ll take a break and have my green smoothie with different algae and different fruits and superfoods and great supplements that I use that allow me to have mental clarity and feel good.

I eat a lot of fruits for the first part of the day and salads.

Then Novak Djokovic said that he does not like to eat food that requires too much energy for digestion.

“I don’t like to eat any food that would require too much energy for digestion, especially in the first part of the day because that’s when I need the most energy for my training,” he added. “So I’m keeping things quite light and I would have grains like quinoa, wild rice, sweet potato and normal potato, like steamed or boiled.”
