Tennis player Nick Kyrgios from Australia has formally committed to competing in the Mallorca Championships, an ATP250 event that will take place from June 24 to July 1, 2023, on the grass courts of the Calviá Country Club.
The Majorcan tournament, the only grass-court competition held in Spain, will see Kyrgios compete for the second time. In 2022, Kyrgios withdrew due to an injury after defeating Serbian Laslo Djere in a grueling match that lasted two hours and fifteen minutes and ended in three sets, two of which were decided in a tiebreaker: 5-7, 7-6(1), 7-6 (1). He faced Novak Djokovic in the season’s third major final 18 days after that.
“The best players want to be here and being able to announce Nick is a sign of the good work that is being done,” said Toni Nadal, the tournament director.
