Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz are most probably the strongest tennis players in the world right now. The 19-year-old ended the season in the top spot of the rankings. After a very complicated year, Novak finished the season only ranked number 5. However, he would be number 2 if his Wimbledon points were awarded.

Both Novak and Carlito won 20 matches, but the Serbian legend lost only on 5 occasions while the Spaniard lost 9 times. It is also important to remember that Alcaraz played more tournaments than Djokovic and his performance improved dramatically in the second part of the year.

Ranked world no.5, Novak played his last match on the 20th of November when he beat world no.3 Casper Ruud 7-5 6-3 in the final in the Nitto ATP Finals to win his 91st career title.
Currently, during this year Djokovic achieved an overall 42-7 win-loss record. The Serbian conquered 5 titles in 2022 in Rome, Wimbledon, Tel Aviv, Astana and the Nitto ATP Finals. The Serbian was the finalist in Belgrade and Paris.

Currently the world no.1, Alcaraz played his last match on the 4th
of November when he had to retire when playing against world no.11 Holger Rune in the quarter and the scoreline was 6-3 6-6 .Until now, during this year Alcaraz has managed to achieve a compiled 57-13 record. The Spaniard clinched 5 titles in 2022 in Rio de Janeiro, Miami, Barcelona, Madrid and U.S. Open. The Spaniard was the runner-up in Hamburg and Umag.
Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz faced off just on 1 occasion. Their current head to head is 1-0 for Alcaraz. When they played, Carlos Alcaraz won 6-7(5) 7-5 7-6(5) in the semifinal in Madrid (Mutua Madrid Open) on the 7th of May 2022.
