Iga Swiatek and Hubert Hurkacz posted very strong statements after abuse allegations against the head of Polish tennis association Miroslaw Skrzypczynski. The allegations of sexual abuse against Skrzypczynski made by Katarzyna Kotula shocked the Polish tennis community this week.
Kotula, a current Polish Member of Parliament, was only 13 years old when Skrzypczynski allegedly violated her sexually. Kotula referred to Skrzypczynski as a “predator” in a statement to Polish media. The top two Polish players, Swiatek and Hubert, immediately backed the victim and demanded that the accusations against Skrzypczynski be taken seriously. Eventually, Skrzypczynski stepped down from his position as the Polish Tennis Federation president.
