Novak Djokovic loves playing in team competitions for Serbia, but unfortunately the tennis legend will not be able to compete at the inaugural United Cup in Australia.
Novak Djokovic will not participate because Serbia was unable to secure one of the final two spots in the group for the brand-new mixed-gender competition. The world No. 5’s entry ban to Australia was recently lifted, allowing him to compete next season. However, because his team did not qualify, he will miss the first competition of 2023.
Starting on December 29, 18 nations will compete in five groups of three across Sydney, Brisbane, and Perth for the United Cup. From January 6 to 8, the top four nations will compete in a knockout stage in Sydney. The top six WTA rankings, top six ATP rankings, and top six combined rankings were used to determine the competing nations.
Carlos Alcaraz, Emma Raducanu, Coco Gauff also missing
Unfortunately, some other popular players will not compete in this competition. Carlos Alcaraz, Emma Raducanu, Coco Gauff, Roberto Bautista, Jannik Sinner, Garbine Muguruza, Marin Cilic, Barbora Krejcikova, Karolina Pliskova, and AndyMurray will not represent their nations in this competition.
