Australia is one of eight countries that made it through to the knockout round of the 2022 Davis Cup Finals, which are currently taking place in Spain. Tonight at Malaga, the Australian team will square off against the Netherlands in a decisive quarterfinal matchup.
Australian captain Lleyton Hewitt declared that his team was prepared for the challenge of playing the Netherlands following a successful training week in France. “The biggest thing is we put the team first. It’s much bigger than an individual event, and to win this kind of event, it really does take a team effort,” Hewitt commented.
The Australian team is being led by Alex de Minaur. The 23-year-old has a perfect record in the competition this year, winning all four of his singles matches to advance Australia.
The winner between team Australia and the Netherlands will face either Spain or Croatia in the semi-finals.
