‘I’m not comfortable at the net,’ says Casper Ruud after losing to Novak Djokovic

Casper Ruud lost to Novak Djokovic in the final of the ATP Finals on Sunday. Ruud says he needs to improve a lot, especially at the net, where he is not very comfortable.

Casper Ruud At The Net

Casper Ruud had a fantastic year after winning 3 titles and reaching some prestigious finals in Miami, French Open, U.S. Open and Turin (ATP Finals). Casper improved a lot, especially when playing on hard courts. Nevertheless, after losing to Novak Djokovic on Sunday in the final of the ATP Finals, Casper Ruud said that he needs to improve a lot, especially at the net, where he is not very comfortable. Indeed, Casper played extremely well from the baseline against Djokovic, but he missed too many opportunities at the net.

“Technically, I’m not perfect at all. Many things I can improve technically. But my base as a tennis player has improved a lot this last year,” said Casper.

“But there are many things that I can improve, many things that I still find uncomfortable, shots that I don’t feel comfortable hitting, especially maybe moving forward, coming to the net. But, yeah, all in all, I think I can improve all parts of my game, which is a good thing. Yeah, I cannot tell you one specific thing right now. But in my mind, I still believe that I can play better tennis than I have done this year.”
