Serena Williams roars to the US Open final demolishing everyone on her path. The world no.1 has never conceded more than 3 games in each set in all her previous matches in the tournament.

It took just 59 minutes for Serena to dismiss Makarova that was also having a great tournament (she hasn’t dropped a single set on her path to the semifinal). The result was a telling 6-1 6-3. Serena won the first 10 games of 11 to get a decisive 6-1 4-0. Then the world no.1 “conceded something” to her opponent, but that was too late for Makarova. Match Stats.

Serena:  I think I played pretty well

The American commented “I’m just really excited to be in the final now. In the beginning of the week I definitely wasn’t sure that I would make it this long. Definitely wasn’t sure I’d still be here.

I think I played pretty well today though. I was able to change up my game and keep moving forward and just keep doing what I could do today. I’m just elated, to be honest, to have made it this far.”

Makarova: Serena is just great

Ekaterina commented “Serena, she’s a great, unbelievable player. It’s always so tough to play against her. Today she was so aggressive. I don’t know. Maybe I didn’t think she would be that aggressive. Like she’s just coming so early, so sometimes I was too late because she was too fast. I don’t know.

I lost against No.1. She’s an unbelievable player and she was just too good today.”

The final vs. Wozniacki

Serena will play her dear friend Caroline Wozniacki for the title. Head to head is 8-1 for the American that has recently struggled a lot in her last 2 wins against the Dane.
