INJURY. After Alcaraz also Jannik Sinner will not play the Davis Cup, United Cup following the ATP Finals

Jannik Sinner explains why he cannot compete in the upcoming Davis Cup

Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz are among the most interesting young tennis players on the ATP Tour. Unfortunately, none of them will be fit to compete in the upcoming Davis Cup that will kickstart on the 22nd of November after the ATP Finals.

Carlos Alcaraz sustained an abdominal injury during his recent tournament in Paris. Also, Jannik Sinner got injured in France and was not able to recover. The Italian sensation posted the following message on social media:

“I am very sad to announce that I will not be able to participate in the Davis Cup final. I suffer from a finger injury from Paris. Unfortunately, I have not recovered yet and therefore will not be able to join our team.

It was a very difficult decision for me, playing for my country is always an honor and I hope to be back soon. Come on Italy!”

Jannik Sinner’s injuries in 2022

Jannik Sinner had a rather difficult season. He had Covid in January and February missing Rotterdam. Later he had to withdraw from Indian Wells for illness. He retired in Miami with blisters. Later,  he had a hip injury in Rome. During the Roland Garros, he was struggling with a left knee injury and he sprained an ankle while playing in Sofia. Now the young Italian cannot compete at the Davis Cup because of this hand injury.
