Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz are among the most interesting young tennis players on the ATP Tour. Unfortunately, none of them will be fit to compete in the upcoming Davis Cup that will kickstart on the 22nd of November after the ATP Finals.
Carlos Alcaraz sustained an abdominal injury during his recent tournament in Paris. Also, Jannik Sinner got injured in France and was not able to recover. The Italian sensation posted the following message on social media:
“I am very sad to announce that I will not be able to participate in the Davis Cup final. I suffer from a finger injury from Paris. Unfortunately, I have not recovered yet and therefore will not be able to join our team.
It was a very difficult decision for me, playing for my country is always an honor and I hope to be back soon. Come on Italy!”

Jannik Sinner had a rather difficult season. He had Covid in January and February missing Rotterdam. Later he had to withdraw from Indian Wells for illness. He retired in Miami with blisters. Later, he had a hip injury in Rome. During the Roland Garros, he was struggling with a left knee injury and he sprained an ankle while playing in Sofia. Now the young Italian cannot compete at the Davis Cup because of this hand injury.

Ranked world no.15, the Italian played his last match on the 31st of October when he was overcome by world no.58 Marc-Andrea Huesler 6-2 6-3 in the 1st round in Paris (draw).
Until now, during this year Jannik owns a compiled 47-16 match record. This year, the Italian conquered 1 tournament in Umag.
Carlos Alcaraz in 2022
Ranked world no.1, Alcaraz played his last match on the 4th of November when he had to retire when playing against world no.10 Holger Rune in the quarter and the scoreline was 6-3 6-6 .
Currently, during this year the Spaniard owns a compiled 57-13 record. Alcaraz conquered 5 titles in 2022 in Rio de Janeiro, Miami, Barcelona, Madrid and U.S. Open. The Spaniard was the finalist in Hamburg and in Umag.
Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz faced off 5 times. Their head to head is 3-2 for Alcaraz. Previously, the last time they squared off, Carlos Alcaraz won 6-3 6-7(7) 6-7(0) 7-5 6-3 in the quarter in New York (U.S. Open) on the 7th of September 2022.
