Lorenzo Musetti had a fantastic run in the ATP 1000 event in Paris, where he reached the quarterfinal after defeating Casper Ruud. Things went dramatically south in the quarter-finals when Lorenzo was demolished by an inspired Novak Djokovic. The Serbian legend was playing fantastic tennis, but Musetti was not there with his level.
After the match, Lorenzo explained what his issue was.
“During the year it is difficult to play with these big players,” explained Lorenzo. “There were perhaps too many expectations about this match that conditioned me a bit and I didn’t know how to manage them.
Djokovic played a great match and above all on this surface where he is perhaps the strongest of all time. Too bad, I’m only sorry that I didn’t express my tennis at its best. Now we look forward.
This slightly ugly defeat bothers me more because I didn’t deserve it for the path I was taking. However, there are these relapses; we now hope to resume the journey as briefly as possible.”
Lorenzo Musetti will play next week the Next-Gen finals in Milan, where he will be among the top favorites.
