Carlos Alcaraz didn’t shine as he was hoping for after becoming the new world number 1 following his US Open success. The Spanish teenager crashed out in his opening match in Astana and he lost in the semifinals in Basel to Felix Auger-Aliassime in straight sets after scoring just 5 games (6-3 6-2).

Carlito will try to conquer the title this week in Paris. He will start his campaign from the second round after receiving a bye. The 19-year-old will clash against Yoshihito Nishioka in his opening match after the Japanese defeated Aslan Karatsev. Carlos Alcaraz and Yoshihito Nishioka have never fought against each other.
