Cincinnati: It’s Federer no. 80!!!

We have a new upcoming kid on the circuit, his name is Roger Federer!

The Swiss Maestro doesn’t really care about being 33 to reach his 4th consecutive final and win his 80th career title, the 6th in Cincinnati.

Roger has played another great match against David Ferrer. The Maestro started in great fashion to win the opener 6-3 breaking David in the 8th game (5-3). In the second set Roger missed lots of opportunities to break Ferrer in the first game to eventually being broken twice in a row and lose the 2nd set 6-1. The world no.3 then regrouped to finally win the decider 6-2 breaking David another couple of time. The final result was 6-3 1-6 6-2.

Some Numbers

Once again Roger squandered too many break points to just 3 of 14. The Maestro scored 85 points vs. David’s 77. Match Stats

Roger: From good to great

Federer was absolutely elated by this week “I’m very happy about the week. Just overall it went from good to great. Just really pleased that I was able to back up a tough week last week already. I really thought I was feeling better again towards the end of the second set, like he felt better at the end of the first. I carried that over into the third and served great and was able to come up with some really good plays. Just overall I think I played a great match at the end.”

Ferrer: He was better, but I was close

David was happy to have found his best tennis after a couple of months that were not that great for him “He was better, but I was close. I am happy with my game these two weeks. I reached the quarter-final in Toronto and final here playing well every day.”
