Eugenie Bouchard was all excited to compete in Cluj-Napoca this week. Unfortunately, she will not have good memories after she got injured in her hip. Genie had to withdraw after losing the first set against Anhelina Kalinina in the 1st round. Fortunately, that was a good move and apparently, the Canadian sensation will be ready and fit to play in Guadalajara.
“I tweaked my hip in practice on Saturday and tried everything to be ready for my match Tuesday as the match went on it got worse and my movement was affected,” said Genie. “Out of caution. I felt like the smart decision was to retire. The doctors have told me that with a few days of rest and treatment I should be good to go in Guadalajara. I am so grateful to the entire team in Cluj for their hospitality this week.”

LLWW Ranked no.443, the Canadian played her last match on the 11th of October when she had to retire when playing against world no.45 Anhelina Kalinina in the 1st round and the scoreline was 6-3 0-0 .
This season Bouchard has achieved a 5-6 match record.
Bouchard is expected to play next in Guadalajara (Guadalajara Open Akron). She is currently an alternate. The main draw will start on the 17th of October thanks to a special ranking.
