Tsonga crashes out in Cincy opener!

Shocking stuff in Cincinnati!

Jo Wilfred Tsonga was expected to have another great tournament in Cincinnati after triumphing in Toronto where he defeated Djokovic, Murray, Dimitrov and Federer, but then he just crashed in the first round against Youzhny.

Jo was never in the match to be 6-1 5-2 down in absolutely no time. Then the world no.10 managed to (partially) save the face to break Youzhny at the very end and lose 6-1 6-4.

Some numbers

The numbers are a bit shocking. Jo won only 40 points vs. Youzhny’s 60. The Frenchman was broken 4 times and he won only 30% of the points on his second serve. Match Stats.

Tsonga: I didn’t have enough

Jo was clearly struggling from a physical and mental point of view to comment “It’s never easy. You have to get used to the conditions really quick… I just gave everything on court, but I didn’t have enough today to compete at the good level.”
