Djokovic struggles with Simon in Cincinnati opener

Novak Djokovic had another “imperfect” match in North America. After a not-so-good tournament in Toronto, Nole struggles in his opener against Gilles Simon to win 6-3 4-6 6-4.

After the first 4 games, Djokovic started to commit an array of uncharacteristic unforced errors that put in jeopardy the outcome of the match. The worst part of the match for the world no.1 was when he lost 5 consecutive games after he was leading 6-3 4-2. Eventually the Serbian found his way to win in 2 hours and 10 minutes.

Djokovic: I am not playing at the level I want to be

Nole wasn’t 100% satisfied for his performance “I think I did well for the most of the match. End of the second, start of the third wasn’t that great, but I try to take positives from every match. I know I’m not playing at the level yet where I want to be and it’s obvious, but I keep on pushing myself. Every day is a new challenge to try to look out for a better game tomorrow and after tomorrow, and hopefully it’s going to come.”

In the next round Nole will play either Robredo or Querrey.
