Carlos Alcaraz and Casper Ruud had an absolutely outstanding campaign in the US Open. After the young Spanish sensation won the title over Casper, it seemed as if both of them were destined to dominate the last part of the season. However, something uncharacteristic happened this week. Both players were the seed number 1 in the ATP 500 tournaments in Tokyo and Astana. Both of them lost in the first round and, even more remarkably, the players who defeated them lost in the following round and that was the destiny for all the subsequent players.
Therefore, in Astana, Alcaraz lost to Goffin who lost to Mannarino who lost the 2 Rublev who lost to Tsitsipas who lost in the final against Djokovic. Click here to see the draw.
