Novak Djokovic and Stefanos Tsitsipas will face off on Sunday in the Astana final. Novak conquered a weird semi-final against Daniil Medvedev. The Russian player won the first set and he had a match point in the second one before losing the tie-break. Daniil looked fine for the entire match when he suddenly retired at the beginning of the third set.
During the on-court interview, Djokovic confessed that he was shocked when he learned that Medvedev would not have played the third set.
“I’m shocked, really,” Djokovic confessed. “He looked completely fine, but maybe the last seven or eight, points I saw him move slower. I really hope that his injury is nothing too serious. I know Daniil, he’s a great guy, he’s a fighter, and he’s a big competitor.
He told me that he pulled an adductor muscle in his leg.”
