
Roger Federer has just announced his retirement during the latest Laver Cup. Novak Djokovic was asked who he would consider as his biggest rival now that Federer is out and Carlos Alcaraz is at the top of the rankings. The Serbian sensation did not have any doubt say that until he is still around, Rafael Nadal remains his biggest rival.
“Everyone is my rival. Whoever I step out on court against is my rival and I want to win against him. When it comes to who is my biggest rival, it is Nadal, without a doubt. He’s still there,” Novak commented.
The H2H record
Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal faced off 59 times. Their current record is 30-29 for Djokovic. Before, the last time they competed against each other, Rafael Nadal won 6-2 4-6 6-2 7-6(4) in the quarter in Paris (French Open) on the 31st of May 2022.

Novak Djokovic in 2022
Now the world no.7, the Serbian played his last match on the 25th of September when he lost to world no.13 Felix Auger-Aliassime 6-3 7-6(3) in the round robin in the Laver Cup (draw).
At present, during this year Novak has managed to achieve an overall 24-6 match record. Djokovic has won 2 titles in 2022 in Rome and Wimbledon. Novak was the finalist in Belgrade.
Djokovic has scheduled to compete next in Nur-Sultan (Astana Open). He will commence the tournament from the main draw on the 3rd of October thanks to a wild card.
Rafael Nadal in 2022
Currently the world no.3, the Spaniard played his last match on the 5th of September when he lost to world no.19 Francis Tiafoe 6-4 4-6 6-4 6-3 in the 4th round of the U.S. Open (draw).
Presently, during this year Rafael has a compiled 38-5 record. Rafael conquered 4 titles in 2022 in Melbourne, Australian Open, Acapulco and French Open. Rafael was the runner-up in Indian Wells.
