Kuznetsova wins her 1st title after 4 years!

Finally Kuznetsova again!

The former world no.2 managed to halt a 4 years drought to win yet another title. Svetlana grabbed her title in Washington defeating world no. 40 Kurumi Nara in 3 sets

The match was a bit complicated. In fact, Svetlana had a great stint when she managed to win 7 consecutive games recovering a 2-3 deficit in the 1 set to lead 6-3 3-0 in the second. Then the Japanese crawled back in the game to win the second set, but eventually she had to bow in the decider after losing the decisive break in the 10th game. The final result was 6-3 4-6 6-4. From Kuznetsova

The Russian commented “It happened a little bit like this earlier in the year in Oeiras – I was up 4-1 in the third set in the final but lost the match. Today when I was up I was getting tight, but in the third set I was just trying to hold my serve, and in the last game I knew I just needed four more points.”

After the match Svetlana tweeted “Its been a while … Thanks to everyone for the support”
