‘No pressure of being no.1,’ says Alcaraz after mentioning Medvedev

Carlos Alcaraz talks about his feelings after becoming the new world number 1

Carlos Alcaraz

At 19 years of age, Carlos Alcaraz became the youngest world number 1 in ATP history after winning the US Open earlier in September. There were some speculations that the young Spaniard could feel the pressure to lead the rankings. Former world number 1, Daniil Medvedev, confessed that he was struggling with pressure after being at the top of the rankings.

Carlos Alcaraz seems to be quite comfortable in his position to comment: “I heard Medvedev said that he felt the pressure, but I haven’t felt it. Maybe it’s the Davis Cup and I had so much support. We’ll see what happens in an individual tournament, but I’m going to try not to think about it.”

Carlito decided to be 2 weeks out of competitions after he defended the colors of team Spain in the Davis Cup. Alcaraz will be back to play on the ATP tour next week in Kazakhstan on the occasion of the ATP500 event that will take place in Astana from the 3rd of October.
