Unfortunately, the entertaining American player was heavily insulted on Instagram and Twitter after he and Jack sock defeated Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer on day one. That was Federer’s last match and the occasion was a sort of celebration for the career of the Swiss Maestro. Federer and Nadal had a match point in the final tie-break, but they were not able to convert it, and eventually Tiafoe and Sock won the match.

Some tennis fans were utterly upset not only for the outcome but also for the fact that Tiafoe kept on blasting missiles at the body of both Federer and Nadal. Once Frances managed to hit Federer rather strongly. That is completely legit in doubles, but that behaviour looked out of place for some fans who thought that the match was just a special farewell. That style looked not respectful also considering that both Federer and Nadal were completely out of shape and they wanted just to enjoy the occasion.
Nevertheless, it’s also worth noticing that Federer and Nadal were not upset at all with Tiafoe and the point won in that match was also decisive for Team World to conquer the trophy.
