Team Europe has an incredible lineup for the upcoming Laver Cup with the notable presence of Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray. Nevertheless, it did not go unnoticed that the new world number 1 Carlos Alcaraz is not part of the team.
Apparently, Carlito was contacted by Team Europe but he decided with his team not to play in the prestigious competition because his schedule has been incredibly packed.
Carlito explained: “We thought about it (to play the Laver Cup) and talked about it, but for sporting reasons, we are not going to go, as I have been competing for a long time and I had to rest.
Playing the Laver Cup, which is a beautiful competition, would have been nice, but we decided it was better to think about the future.”

Ranked no.1, Alcaraz played his last match on the 18th of September when he defeated world no.74 Soon-Woo Kwon 6-4 7-6(1) in the Rubber 2 of the Davis Cup (draw).
Presently, during this year Carlos achieved a composed 52-10 win-loss record. Carlos has won 5 titles in 2022 in Rio de Janeiro, Miami, Barcelona, Madrid and U.S. Open. Alcaraz reached the final in Hamburg and in Umag.

The Spaniard has won 4 titles in 2022 in Melbourne, Australian Open, Acapulco and French Open. Nadal was the runner-up in Indian Wells.
Novak Djokovic in 2022
Now ranked no.7, Djokovic played his last match on the 10th of July when he beat world no.20 Nick Kyrgios 4-6 6-3 6-4 7-6(3) in the final in Wimbledon to win his 88th career title.
Currently, during this season the Serbian has a 23-5 record. Novak conquered 2 titles in 2022 in Rome and Wimbledon. The Serbian was the runner-up in Belgrade.
Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic played each other 59 times. The head to head is 30-29 for Djokovic. Previously, the last time they played, Rafael Nadal won 6-2 4-6 6-2 7-6(4) in the quarter in Paris (French Open) on the 31st of May 2022.
