Monaco and Andujar to play for the title in Gstaad

The Gstaad 2014 champion will speak Spanish; we just need to know the continent.

Pico Monaco from Argentina will face Palo Andujar from Spain will face off in the final what what will be their first title of the year.

Monaco

Pico came from a tough match against Robin Haase. Both didn’t play at their very best to display a mediocre baseline tennis. At the end it was the Argentine to get to the final winning 6-3 7-6 (4).

Monaco commented “At the beginning I didn’t play well and he led 3-0. But I got into the match. I got rhythm and was in control. In the second set, I got a bit nervous as this is my first semi-final of the year. At the end, I relaxed and played my tennis. I am happy to have reached the final. I did not play after Tokyo for two months. It was not easy. I could not play the way I wanted to. I am happy now that I am in good shape. The victories will come.”

Andujar

The world no. 71 defeated in 3 sets Fernado Verdasco (6-3 6-7 (2) 6-1) to finally concede the first set in this tournament.

Head to head

Monaco and Andujar have never played each other before. Andujar should be the favorite for the title.
