Team Croatia has conquered a fantastic 2-0 lead over France in what many considered as the “last edition” of the Davis Cup.

In fact, this will be the last year that the Davis Cup is played with the “traditional” format before the launch of a new “Davis Cup” in 2019.

The Matches

Team France chose to play the final on clay, but that didn’t work well as both Chardy and Tsonga were brushed aside in straight sets. Borna Coric defeated Jeremy Chardy 6-2 7-5 6-4 while Marin Cilic breezed past Jo-Wilfried Tsonga 6-3 7-5 6-4.

On Saturday, Nicolas Mahut and Pierre-Hugues Herbert will take on Ivan Dodig and Mate Pavic in the doubles. The, if the French team wins, on Sunday Chardy will face Cilic and Tsonga will play Coric.
