Simona Halep wants to win Wimbledon

The Romanian outlines her next target

SImona Halep wants to win Wimbledon

Simona Halep ended her 2nd consecutive season as the world no.1, and she can’t wait to compete again in 2019.

The Romanian has been hampered by a back injury in the last part of 2018, and her beloved coach Darren Cahill has decided not to partner with Simona anymore in 2019 to take some time off and stay with his family.

Besides these setbacks, Simona is rather optimistic that she can have another fantastic season and after finally winning her maiden Slam at the French Open she wants another one: Wimbledon.

What Halep said about winning Wimbledon

During a recent interview, Simona commented

“If the back injury gets solved, I will be able to work; I hope it goes well, I want a new Grand Slam trophy, it’s a goal every year. I won the French Open, now Wimbledon is the goal.

I am confident it will be a good year even if it could be tougher to start because in the late end of the season I did not play too many matches.”

Simona’s best result in Wimbledon was when she lost to Genie Bouchard in the 2014 semifinals.
