What happened

4 years ago it emerged that the Italians were at the center of a match-fixing scandal that saw the duo fixing matches back in 2007 and 2011. In one conversation Bracciali was caught discussing losing a match in Newport in 2007 to Scoville Jenkins, In another conversation, the owner of a betting parlor talked about fixing a match with Potito Starace that had to lose a final in the ATP250 in Casablanca against Pablo Andujar. Eventually, the Italian lost 6-1 6-2.

In 2015 the Italian Tennis Federation gave a life ban to both players. Eventually, the ban was lifted after only 2 months following an appeal.

The Tennis Integrity Unit has now focussed on another match in 2011 (Barcelona) when Starace withdrew from his 1st round match against Daniel Gimeno-Traver at the beginning of the third set.
