17-years-old Zverev is the youngest player to win an ATP match in 5 years

What a great story in Germany!

We are not talking about the World Cup, but about a youngster that is finding his way in pro tennis. Wild Carded in Hamburg, Alexander conceded just 2 games to world no.51 Robin Haase to win his first match in an ATP main draw.

Zverev: It was special

Alexander commented “Winning my first ATP World Tour match in Hamburg, in front of a home crowd, was special. I had the feeling that the crowd was behind me. He played well in the second set, but once I got the break I played better.”

Alexander got already some attention this year by winning the Australian Open (juniors) and the Challnger in Braunschweig defeating Mathieu, Golubev and Kamke on the way.

Zverev will now face world no.19 Youzhny in the second round.
