Sascha beats Isner in straight sets.

Zverev beats Isner

Sascha Zverev has another “mature” performance at these ATP Finals.

After beating Marin Cilic in the opener 7-6 (5) 7-6 (1), the German had to bow to Novak Djokovic (6-4 6-1). Zverev impressed on Friday after he defeated his good friend John Isner in straight sets demonstrating once more that he feels completely comfortable in playing on big stages.

The match against Isner

Once again Sacha served extremely well to blast 18 aces with a great first serve percentage (75%).

The first set went straight to the tiebreak. The only awkward moment for the German was when he had to save a break point while serving on a 5-6 scoreline. Zverev won the breaker at the very end after Isner netted a forehand.

The only difference between Sascha and John in the second set was a break that the German conquered in the 8th game (5-3) before winning the encounter 7-6 (5) 6-3 in 1 hour and 21 minutes.

I am unbelievably happy

After the match, Zverev commented

“I’m unbelievably happy to be in the semi-finals. I’ve had such a good run over the last year.

John was such a tough opponent and the last two matches could have gone either way for him.

The first set was unbelievably tight. It’s always one or two points against him. I came up with some great shots in the tie-break as well and that helped because don’t want to be down with him serving for the set.”

Zverev happyThe semifinal vs. Federer

Sascha will face Roger Federer in the semifinal. The head to head is 3-2 for Roger that has defeated the German last year in London in 3 sets.
