Diego Sebastian Schwartzman lost in straight sets and rather easily to Stefanos Tsitsipas in Cincinnati (6-3 6-3). Unfortunately, there was a nasty episode during the match when the Argentine player was extremely vocal against this the finals father and coach, Apostolos.
Diego went quite personal to say: “Tell me one people who likes his father”
Later on Diego Schwartzman said that he was affected by the fact that Apostolos was coaching Stefanos in English and not in Greek. He thought that was done to distract him.
Apostolos has been a lot at the centre of many controversies in the pastor because he was illegally coaching his son during the matches. However, the ruler has been changed and now coaching is allowed.
Schwartzman admitted during the exchange that he should focus better and not let it affect him, but he was annoyed about Team Tsitsipas deliberately speaking in English rather than in Greek when he was down their end, presumably (in his mind) to distract him.
