LIVE RANKINGS. How Nadal can overtake Medvedev, Zverev an be the new world no.1 after Cincinnati

Nadal To Become World No.1

Rafael Nadal is definitely not in the stage of his amazing career where he pays too much attention to the rankings. Nevertheless, the Spanish champion has the opportunity to become the new world number 1 after the upcoming tournament in Cincinnati, according to the live rankings.

As of now, Daniil Medvedev and Alexander Zverev lead Rafa in the live rankings. Medvedev has 6885 points, Zverev 6760 and Nadal 5620. Zverev won Cincinnati in 2021 and Daniil lost in the semifinal. Therefore, Medvedev will have to defend 360 points and Zverev will lose 1000 (he won’t play this year as he is still struggling with injury). Nadal didn’t play in Cincinnati since he missed the second part of the season after Washington.

With this scenario, Nadal can become the new world no.1 after Cincinnati if he wins the tournament and Medvedev doesn’t reach the quarters in Ohio.
