‘It was so hard for me,’ Kyrgios talks about his mental struggle with Hurkacz next in Montreal

Nick Kyrgios talks about how he was struggling with the media

Nick Kyrgios About His Struggle

Nick Kyrgios seems to be an all new man. The Australian player has been performing extremely well during the last few months. Nick reached the final in Wimbledon before winning the ATP 500 in Washington (singles and doubles). Nick is now in the quarter-finals in Montreal, where he also has defeated the world number 1, Daniil Medvedev.

During the press conference that followed his successful match against his dear friend Alex De Minaur, Nick talked about his struggle and how he suffered for how the media depicted him at the beginning of his career.

Nick commented:

“I don’t care if people don’t like me and the style of tennis I play. I understand that. It’s more like at the beginning of my career, the media almost painting an image that completely wasn’t me based on what I was doing on the court, which was so hard to disconnect from in real life.

None of you understand what that’s like, when people just paint an image of how you are as a general human 95% of the time, but you’re only seeing me on the tennis court for 2% of my life.

You guys kind of painted me to be this, like, horrific person for like five years.”
