Key rules of the upcoming Next Gen Final in Milan

Nextgen finals

On Tuesday the 2nd edition of the NextGen ATP Final will take place in Milan. Here the key rules.

1- Groups

There will be 2 groups of 4 players that will be played following a round robin format. The best 2 players of each group will access the semifinals.

2- Match format

The matches will be played as follow: First to Four games sets (tiebreak at 3-All), Best of Five sets, with No-Ad scoring.

3- 4 Minutes Warm-up

The match will commence after just 4 minutes from when the 2nd player steps on court.

4- Shot Clock

A Shot clock will be used to pace the event. Therefore it will be used not only to enforce the 25-seconds rule but also for the warm-up, set breaks, medical time-out etc.

5- No-let Rule

This means that the point is played even if the serve touches the let cord.

6- Medical Time-Out

There could be a maximum 1 medical timeout per match.

7- Player Coaching

Player coaching will be allowed, but the coach will not be able to go on-court.

8- Towel Rack

The players will use a rack for their towel and not the ballboys

9- Free Movement

A free movement policy is implemented with the exception of areas behind the baselines.
