That was scary! As soon as Serena Williams entered the court to play doubles with her sister Venus it was clear that something was wrong. Serena was without any make-up (not normal for such a glamorous person), her hair was undone and she was visibly confused, definitely not herself.
At the beginning it wasn’t sure what the problem was. The doctor came on court to check Serena 15 minutes before the match. The American looked to be in tears, she was clearly lethargic, but she gave it a go and that wasn’t a great idea. The Americans retired after being 0-3 down as Serena couldn’t just play. After committing 3 consecutive double faults Serena and Venus quit.

Apparently the problem was a mysterious bug “I want to thank my sister, Kristina, Stefanie and our teams for their support. We were looking forward to a great match. From the bottom of my heart, I thank all of the fans for their cheers and understanding. I look forward to returning to Wimbledon next year.’’

Serena’s sister added “Unfortunately, Serena has been feeling unwell for the past few days and she just couldn’t play to her potential today. I’m really proud of her trying because we just love playing doubles together.’’
