Shapovalov withdraws from Milan

Denis Shapovalov had a rather good season, but in the end, it was clear that he was struggling probably from a mental point of view after a long year.

The Canadian would have been one of the top stars at the upcoming Next Gen Finals in Milan, but he decided to withdraw.

Why Shapovalov withdrew from Milan

The Canadian released the following statement

“I had a long year competing around the world and I’m sorry to pull out of the NextGen ATP Finals. It was a blast last year and unlike any other tournament, I’ve ever played. I’ll miss all of the amazing fans in Milan and battling against the best young players on tour.”

Shapovalov’s 2018

Currently ranked no.29, Denis has lost 5 of his last 6 matches after he reached the semifinals in Tokyo. This year he had a 33-27 win-loss record.

The highlights of his season were the semifinals in Madrid, Tokyo, and Delray Beach. Also, the Canadian has reached the 4th round in Miami.

At 19 years of age, he has a fantastic future ahead, but he has now to recharge his batteries to have a fantastic run in 2019.
