Great Federer breezes past Giraldo in Wimbledon

Roger Federer has another great performance in Wimbledon.

The world no.4 dismisses Santiago Giraldo 6-3 6-1 6-3 in just 81 minutes. Roger was always in command to break Giraldo 5 times without ever conceding a single break. The Swiss had only to battle a bit in the third set as he struggled to break Santiago (that happened in the 8th game) and he had to defend a couple of break points. For the rest… it was Roger at his very best.

Some numbers

Roger scored 30 points more than Santiago (94 vs. 64). He won 84% of the points on his first serve (42 / 50). Finally the Maestro had also a good breakpoints conversion rate (56% or 5 out of 9)

Federer: I am very pleased

Roger was very happy about his tennis “It’s great.  very pleased. It’s always good to keep moving on. Last year I lost in the second round, so I’m aware of tough draws. I’m always worried about the first week, getting to the second one; then the grass plays quite differently.

It’s really about maintaining a good level of play. Physically I’m in good shape. I’ve got to keep playing aggressively and serving well. You’ve got to do that on this surface, and keep the points short.”

Next vs. Janowicz or Robredo

Roger will play either Janowicz or Robredo in the 4th round.
