Max Wenders, Sofia Kenin former coach and boyfriend, has been banned for 12 years for match-fixing. The Dutch used to coach many players at the WTA level. He used to be the hitting partner of Jelena Ostapenko.
For a small period of time, Sofia appointed Max as her coach parting ways with his father. Later in the year, Sofia re-hired her dad. Apparently, Sofia and Max are not an item anymore.
Wender was banned for “directly or indirectly, facilitating any Player to not employ his or her best efforts in any Event.”

Ranked world no.419, Sofia played her last match on the 9th of March when she surrendered to world no.26 Beatriz Haddad Maia 6-3 7-5 in the 1st round in Indian Wells (draw).
