Djokovic beats Simon after a terrible injury scare

That was nasty!

Novak Djokovic was cruising against world no.44 Gilles Simon. Everything looked good for the world no.2, but at a certain point during a rally he fell on the ground to be visibly in pain. Nole started to scream and it seemed that something bad happened to his left shoulder. The Serbian had a treatment to magically go back and win the match 6-4 6-2 6-4. Match Stats

Djokovic: It was a sharp pain

The press conference was centered on the accident and on Nole’s physical condition “It was a sharp pain when I fell, an awkward fall. I was just hoping there is nothing going on with the joint, luckily there is no damage and I could play.

The muscle was quite sore with the impact but I am just glad to get through. Now there are two days off and I am going to try and recover.

I played well though I dropped a couple of service games. It could have gone either way in the third but in the important moments I came up with the right selection of shots.”

Next vs. Tsonga

Djokovic will play Tsonga in the fourth round. Head to head is 12-5 for Nole (2-0 for the Serbian on grass). Djokovic is the favorite to get to the quarters, unless he will struggle with his shoulder.
