Naomi Osaka had a fantastic season, especially after she won Indian Wells and the US Open. Unfortunately, the Japanese didn’t have the run she was hoping for in Singapore where she lost her 3 matches in the Red Group.
In the first 2 encounters, Naomi was defeated by Sloane Stephens and Angelique Kerber in 3 sets. Things got even worse in her last match against Kiki Bertens since she had to retire when she was 6-3 down after 47 minutes. Unfortunately, Naomi left the court in tears.
I am very grateful. OSAKA
After the match, Naomi commented
“I witnessed some stuff, That’s for sure. It’s just been a lot of new experiences. I’m very grateful that I was able to have the opportunities that I had. I feel like I have matured. I hope I can say that.
I think keeping the level I had from the US Open to now throughout the entire year is something that I really want to focus on. I think I should be doing well on all surfaces. I think I’m capable of doing that.”
Probably Naomi is in strong need of some rest after so many emotions.
More greatness will come.
