Roger Federer reaches the quarters in Basel after beating Jan-Lennard Struff in straight sets, but that wasn’t an easy win.
The match
Roger had a slow start to be broken in the 3rd game (1-2), and later he was trailing 1-3. However, the Swiss managed to “clean” his tennis to win the following 5 games and grab the 1st set.
The second set was much more “regular” with both players holding their serve without much struggle till the 1st game when Struff was broken (6-5 for Federer). The Maestro was later perfect in holding the following service game at love to finally win 6-3 7-5.
I have to improve in the next round. FEDERER
Even if Roger was happy for reaching the quarters, it was bothered for dropping yet another game. The Swiss commented
“I didn’t really get into the game. It’s been a long time since I’ve played a match without being broken. I have to improve in the next round.”
