Bouchard reaches the Wimbledon second round

Genie Bouchard starts her Wimbledon campaign with a tricky win in the first round.

The young Canadian played the veteran Daniela Hantuchova to overcome her in straight and tough sets.

In the first set Genie managed to recover a 3-5 deficit to win 4 consecutive games and win 7-5.  The second set was also a close encounter with Daniela breaking Genie in the 5th game to be immediately broken back. Eventually the Canadian won the decisive break in the last game to grab the match 7-5 7-5.

Some Numbers

Eventually Genie scored just 8 points more than Daniela (84 vs 76). The Canadian committed only 15 unforced errors even if he had a rather aggressive tennis (26 winners). Match Stats.

Genie will play world no.75 Silvia Soler-Espinosa. Head to head is 1-0 for the Canadian that should not have many problems to get to the third round.
