Dominic Thiem is trying to find his best tennis after being sidelined for so many months by various injuries. Nevertheless, the 2020 US Open champion had the opportunity to watch the new generation in action. Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner really impressed him.
During a recent interview, Dominic commented:
“I played against Jannik Sinner at an exhibition and hit with him at many tournaments, so I knew he was coming to the top and he was good. He has been there for a while and he will probably be even higher soon.
I knew Carlos Alcaraz, but he made a big breakthrough when I was not there. But I saw him quite a lot because he won Umag and then he played in Kitzbuehel and he lost to an Austrian guy [Alexander Erler] and I saw that whole match. You could see it was not going to take long for him to break through. You could see he was going to be in the Top 10.”
The Austrian player hopes so to face the new generation soon. He added:
“Hopefully I will play them soon as it is always exciting to face new players as I have faced most of the guys already and know them quite well. I can imagine it is not that fun to play against Alcaraz. It must be really hard!”

LWLLLLLLLW Currently ranked no.274, Dominic has managed to achieve a compiled 5-9 win-loss record in 2022. Dominic is now competing in Gstaad where he managed to beat Hugo Gaston 1-6 6-1 7-67 and Federico Delbonis 7-66 6-3.
Dominic Thiem will face the world no.115 Juan Pablo Patino-Samudio in the quarter. In the past, they have never competed against each other as of now in top competitions.

LWWWWLWWWW Now the world no.6 (career-high), Carlos has a composed 36-5 win-loss record in 2022. Alcaraz is now playing in Hamburg where he overcame Nicola Kuhn 3-6 6-1 7-63.
Carlos Alcaraz will take on the world no.43 Filip Krajinovic in the 2nd round on Thursday at 6:00 pm on CENTER COURT. Their current head to head is 1-0 for Alcaraz.
The Spaniard has won 4 titles in 2022 in Rio de Janeiro, in Miami, in Barcelona and in Madrid.
