Bad news for the Canadian fans. Novak Djokovic and Alexander Zverev are still on the Montreal entry list for the upcoming ATP1000, but apparently none of them is going to play.
During a recent interview, Montreal Masters tournament director Eugene Lepierre expressed his doubts about the participation of both Novak and Sascha.
Djokovic is still unvaccinated and according to the current regulations in Canada, he will not be allowed to play unless he decided to get the jab, which is practically impossible.
Sascha Zverev probably will not be fit to play after the ankle injury he sustained at the French Open.
Lapierre commented:
“We will have a great tournament. All the best players will be there except for two [Djokovic and Zverev] and we know the reasons for their absence.
Either the Canadian government is going to change the rules regarding vaccination or he is going to roll up his sleeves and get the vaccine. But I don’t think any of those scenarios are realistic.”
