Simona Halep had the best season for her formidable career after she won her 1st slam in Paris and she ended the 2018 as the deserving world no.1 for the second consecutive year.

The Romanian sensation had to cope with a tricky setback in the last part of the season after she got injured in China to her back. Simona was severely hampered in her movements to lose in the openers in Wuhan and Beijing before she had to withdraw from Moscow and the WTA Finals in Singapore.

What Simona is going to do to recover

The world no.1 still went to Singapore where she collected the trophy for the WTA Player of the Year (who else?), and she didn’t miss the occasion to update the press about what she is going to do to recover. The Romanian explained

“They said that I need a break, around three, four weeks. And with the treatment, physiotherapy, and also exercises, medical exercises, I should be okay.

Actually, is nothing sure, but what is sure is that I don’t need surgery. So that is a big positive. I will take care of it. I have enough time. If mentally I will be okay and rested, I think it’s going to be better.

Well, the pain is not that bad when I don’t play. So, I have some moments when I get blocked still, but it’s not that bad as I’m playing tennis.”

If everything is right, Simona may start her season in Brisbane (30 Dec – 6 Jan). Let’s wait and see.
