Stefanos Tsitsipas did it!
The 20-year-old from Greece wins his 1st career title in Stockholm on Sunday after beating Ernests Gulbis in straight sets.
The Greek sensation had an outstanding run in Stockholm where he defeated John Millman (6-4 3-6 6-3), Philipp Kohlschreiber (6-3 7-6), Fabio Fognini (6-3 6-2), and Ernest Gulbis in the final.
The match against Gulbis
Stefanos was too solid for Gulbis in the final. With the exception of the 1st game when the Greek had to save a break point, Tsitsipas didn’t concede much else on his serve. Stefanos was outstanding in the 2nd set when he dropped only 3 points in total in his service games.
The final was decided after the Greek broke Gulbis in the last game of both sets.
The final score was 6-4 6-4, and the match ended after 81 minutes.
This was the 3rd final that the Greek played after he lost to Rafael Nadal in both Barcelona and Toronto. Stefanos will now fly to Basel where he will face Jeremy Chardy in the opener.
The youngster is hungry for more, much more.
