The Belarus is struggling to find her top form to lose in the opener in Eastbourne against a competitive Giorgi.
Vika is trying to recover from an injury to the ankle that has sidelined her since January. The match was a 2 hours and 46 minutes battle (4-6 6-3 7-5) and despite the loss Azarenka got lots of positive out of it ”That’s exactly what I wanted. I wanted to have a competitive match. I wanted to test myself, to play for a long time, see how my body is going to react.
‘I’m pretty pleased with what happened. Obviously the result is the result, but that’s a beginning. It’s a starting point. There are a lot of positive things that I can take from what happened today.”
Vika is right not to be depressed as she has definitely showed that she is on her way back and Camila Giorgi has already pulled many upsets during the past year.
